The Value of P2P Networks
Robert Blinov
In my talk, I will describe the advantages (and pitfalls) of P2P networks, including how they can help bypass censorship, as well as needless centralisation like ICANN’s domain-name monopoly.
I will explain the value of mesh networks and their great untapped potential — how they can be used to save lives during emergencies and make digital communication more efficient. I will give examples of mesh networks used today, such as LoRaWAN, and will warn about the perverse, surveillance-focussed use of mesh networks by companies like Apple and Google.
