DESCRIPTION:Selfish mining literature has traditionally focused on MDP to p
robe for theoretically ideal strategies. However\, these fail to integrate
crucial factors like network latency\, difficulty adjustment\, and node/p
ool internal processing delays\, which can significantly affect the outcom
e of a real-world attack. \n\nThe Monero Simulator incorporates these elem
ents\, plus discrete asynchronous agentic mining pools\, into a configurab
le Monte-Carlo framework capable of sweeping over a broad set of input par
ameters. Tunable parameters include: pools/hashrate\, difficulty adjustmen
 t constants\, network latency/bandwidth\, and pool strategies. \n\nAdditio
nally\, we introduce a novel simplification whereby the set of selfish str
ategy state-diagrams can be modeled with just two\, integer input paramete
rs.\n\nPreliminary results corroborate the classic selfish mining model\,
while challenging the relative profitability of "stubborn" variants.\n\nFi
nally\, the simulator offers a versatile environment for testing selfish m
ining countermeasures\, and could be extended to probe other aspects of Mo
 nero's design.
